Snowboarders
Snowboarders sitting at top of the run. One of the most annoying behaviors a skier can face. These snowboarders spread out horizontally across the run, as if they are purposely barricading the path. A person has to inch, slide, and wiggle their ski or snowboard just to get past the blockade. Why can’t they all buckle their binding at the side of the run, in a vertical line? Are they purposely being disrespectful? Are they not aware of common courtesy? Or are they simply too lazy to care?
Not only is the top plagued by this behavior, but also throughout the run. When skiing behind a snowboarder, they may spontaneously decide to sit down, forcing you to swerve out of the way. If one is luckier, they may be scattered randomly throughout the trail, just sitting there, providing an obstacle course to maneuver around. It’s as if they are inviting an accident to occur.
It seems that sitting around in awkward places is mainly restricted to snowboards. How often does one see a skier lounging around in the middle of a run, creating obstacles for other skiers and riders to navigate? Very rarely, if ever. Perhaps snowboarding causes normal people to become inconsiderate. Or maybe disrespectful people are more likely to become snowboarders. Who knows?
So, addressing all snowboarders, if you insist on sitting down to buckle your bindings, go to the sides. If you fall, get up promptly; don’t sit there for 10 minutes. Just be considerate and use common sense, and everyone will be much happier.
